You will be welcomed by one of our guides waiting outside the arrival hall. We will take a short drive to the capital city of Bhutan Thimphu and check into your hotel.
Memorial Chorten – Build in the memory of Third King of Bhutan.
Buddha Point – Bronze plated sitting Buddha overlooking the Thimphu City.
Trashi Chhoe Dzong – the center of administrative works and the home for learning dharma monks.
Folk Heritage Museum
We will drive to the formal capital of Bhutan until 1955, Punakha. On the way, we will stop at Dochula Pass, a popular tourist spot that grants stunning 360-degree views of the Himalayas. Here, we have 108 Druk Wangyal Chortens build in the name of the Bhutanese soldiers killed in a 2003 battle with Assamese insurgents from India.
Also, visit Druk Wangyel Lhakhang build to commemorate 100 years of monarchy.
Punakha Dzong – Build at the junction of the Pho Chu and Mo Chu river by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel in 1637 to serve as the center of religious and administrative decision making.
Pho Chhu Suspension Bridge – The longest suspension bridge in Bhutan, 160 meters long gives spectacular views of Punakha Dzong and the Pho Chhu Valley.
Chimmi Lhakhang – Built-in 15th century dedicated to Drukpa Kuenley also known as ‘Divine Madman’. It is said that if you want to start a family, you can be blessed from this temple and this temple has been a long pilgrimaged by couples who want to start a family.
Punakha Dzong – Build by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in the 17th century, as the center of administrative disicion making and today is the winter home for Je Khenpo, the head abbot of Bhutan, along with a retinue of 1,000 monks.
Dingtse Monastery – built-in 1421 by Thangtong Gyelpo to subdue demoness and build an iron bridge in Bhutan.
Kyichu Lhakhang – Oldest temple build by Tibetan King.
Chumphu Monastry – Hike to be blessed from Dorji Phamo the flying Goddess is situated. It is said that Goddess Dorji Phamo flew here from Tibet and stayed on in the form of a statue.
Taktsang Monastery (Tiger Nest) – Hike to Taktsang Lhakhang. According to the great teacher Guru Rinpoche Padmasambhava flew to this spot on the back of a tigress. The monastery was first built in 1692 at a cave where the Guru mediated in the 7th century A.D.
